Sugar Creek CC Plans $2.5M Renovation - Club & Resort Business

Sugar Creek Country Club in Sugar Land, Texas plans to begin a $2.5 million renovation project for the golf course and clubhouse, the Woodlands (Texas)-based Your Houston News reported.

The club has partnered with Jeffrey D. Blume Limited, a Houston-based golf course architecture firm, to develop a golf course master plan for the 27-hole golf course. Golf course renovations will include the re-grading and re-grassing of all tees, fairways and greens complexes, bunker renovations, improved drainage, cart path repairs and significant tree work, Your Houston News reported.

The club has also hired Chambers (formerly CCI Club Design), a Baltimore-based planning, architecture and interior design firm, to develop a club master plan for the existing clubhouse, tennis courts, fitness center and swimming pool area, Your Houston News reported.

The club?s goal is to update club amenities including the fitness and recreational area, by expanding the swimming pool and creating a new outdoor dining and bar area, Your Houston News reported.

?This is a very exciting time for our members and with the ongoing changes in the club industry, we are committed to remaining the top member-owned private club in the area by adapting to serve and meet the demands of our members and the market,? said Gordon Wagner, General Manager and CEO.

Construction on the first phase of the golf course renovations, the Trent Nine golf course tract, will begin in May and run through September, Your Houston News reported.

?With 27 holes of golf and approximately 350 golf members, shutting down the Trent Nine for 100-120 days over the summer will have little to no effect on our already very desirable pace of play at Sugar Creek,? Wagner said.

Construction on other amenities is slated to begin later this summer, Your Houston News reported.

The club is also launching a new membership campaign offering prospective members reduced initiation fees and complimentary dues, along with special incentives for existing members who refer new members, Your Houston News reported.
